I seem to think
if I keep typing your name
into the Google toolbar
up here
by the URL and the eBay and the
Dictionary.com boxes
that you’ll actually show up here
in a kind of ghostly shape in my living room, swirling
in a cloud of zeros
and ones that are thirsty
for your face
and the colour of your hair
I drink too much
I drink just enough
But believe me,
I know what I’m saying
when I say
I won’t regret this tomorrow, but you know if you do,
it’s okay
because I believed
I believeo
and God how I know you’ll hate me for thiso
but I actually believe
if I go down to the store
and buy a jar of pickles
and drop them on the floor
in the center
of Aisle 4
that you’ll appear
in a kind of burning dill smell
more than relishes at
your fingertips and your shining yellow hair
dripping, now running
with the salty green liquid
which I guess
in this delusion-turned-dream
is love.
